Bon Voyage and All Aboard!!

August 29th, 2008 At the crack of dawn (actually it was like 815) Maggie and I made our way down the Prince George’s Wharf in the Bahamas. Much to our dismay, the line to board the MV Explorer was about a mile long. To put this burden in perspective for you guys, Maggie and I had 2 duffel bags that weighed about 60 pounds each, a heavy backpack, and a smaller bag. After about 30-45 minutes of waiting in the scorching sun, we finally got our room assignments (Maggie and I were roommates after all!!) and said goodbye to Papa Klos.Once inside the customs building, our bags were searched for booze and other contraband items. Luckily for Maggie and myself, we had none of that stuff. We headed straight to our room, room 3125. Once we opened the door, we were surprised to see how big the cabin actually is!Next on our agenda was unpacking (what a daunting task that was!), exploring the ship, and napping in our new beds!At 5pm, we all went onto the aft decks and waved goodbye to our parents! For some it was sad, for others it was the moment they had been waiting for all Summer (not Maggie and me, of course…)We ended our night with a “Sea Meeting.” Our deck, level 3, is called the Carribbean Sea. Neal, out LLC (Learning-Living Coordinator, otherwise known as an RA) is awesome!! Although he never can seem to remember Maggie’s name haha!Neal wanted us to have a chant to make us the “coolest sea on the ship.”“BANGERANG!!! Ru-fi-o! Ru-fi-o! Ruuuu-fiiii-oooooooo!”

HELLO MAGGIE & AMBER:

I have forward to Klos Family, Jean Coleman, Larry Guihan, amd Sports Rehab friends your email and the link to your blog.

Hope all is well with both of you.

O'Malley story: he was lying in bed with me this morning and told that that we had to have a Poodie story and he began to lick me when I said Maggie's name. He continues to be very "sassy" when he does not get his treat in a timely manner. McTavish, McDuff, and Daisy miss you as all of us do but we are happy you are enjoying Semester at Sea.

Maggie: look up Molly Walker, who is a Junior at the University of Vermont-Burlington. Molly is a hometown friend, from Hingham, Mass., of Jillian Guihan and is on your Semester at Sea ship.

Focus on learning, have fun, and most important be safe!

Love

The Craig
